Rauw Alejandro
Raúl Alejandro Ocasio Ruiz (born January 10, 1993), known professionally as Rauw Alejandro, is a Puerto Rican singer, songwriter, and dancer. Known for his versatility and innovative blend of reggaeton with pop, R&B, electronic music, and traditional Caribbean styles, he is one of the leading figures in contemporary Latin urban music. His accolades include two Latin Grammy Awards, two Billboard Latin Music Awards, and five Grammy Award nominations. Born and raised in San Juan and Carolina, Puerto Rico, Alejandro was introduced to music at an early age by his guitarist father and backing vocalist mother, who exposed him to artists like Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson. He initially pursued a career in soccer, playing for the Puerto Rican national team and receiving a sports scholarship, before an injury led him to focus on music full-time. He began uploading songs to SoundCloud in 2014 and signed with Duars Entertainment in 2017. His breakthrough came with the 2018 remix of "Toda" featuring Cazzu, Lenny Tavárez, and Lyanno, which became a major streaming hit and introduced him to a wider Latin American audience. The song became his most commercially successful release, reaching number three on the Billboard Global 200 chart and receiving nominations for Record of the Year and Song of the Year. His third album, Saturno (2022), marked a stylistic shift toward electronic and synth-driven sounds, received a Grammy nomination, and was supported by the Saturno World Tour, which grossed over $50 million and sold over 550,000 tickets across North America and Europe. In 2023, he released the surprise spin-off Playa Saturno and the collaborative EP RR with Rosalía, which confirmed their engagement and debuted at number two on the Hot Latin Songs chart with its lead single "Beso".
Alejandro's fifth studio album, Cosa Nuestra (2024), marked a critical and commercial peak, debuting at number one on the Top Latin Albums chart and number six on the Billboard 200, his highest-charting position on the all-genre chart. The album's 18 tracks all charted on the Hot Latin Songs chart, with five debuting in the top ten. The album received nominations for Latin Grammy Award for Album of the Year and Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album. Its theatrical supporting tour grossed over $91 million, becoming the most lucrative tour of his career and the second-highest-grossing Latin tour of 2025. He followed with the prequel album Cosa Nuestra: Capítulo 0 (2025), which explored his Caribbean musical roots through salsa, bachata, plena, and bomba, debuting at number three on the Top Latin Albums chart and marking his eighth consecutive top-ten entry. He has received a Hispanic Heritage Award for Vision, recognizing his contributions to Latin music and his role in shaping its global future.
